Becoming the internal Observer

Imagine your life as a movie. Not a Hollywood blockbuster, but your own personal film, playing out moment by moment. It's the 'Your Name Movie' – for me, it's the Paleena Movie. This movie is the ongoing stream of your thoughts, feelings, reactions, and behaviors throughout your day. It’s how you navigate your world, and most importantly, how you show up in your relationships. But remember, all relationships start with the one you have with yourself. Why watch your own movie? Because it's where you uncover your blind spots, those unconscious patterns that can unknowingly lead to projecting, blaming, manipulating, shaming, and judging others, preventing you from being the best version of yourself, starting with your relationship to you. And the first step to understanding and transforming this movie is simply to watch it with curiosity and love."

  • Uncovering Your Blind Spots Through Your Daily Movie

    • Your "movie" reveals your habitual patterns, both helpful and hindering. It shows you how you respond to stress, interact with others, and manage your inner world.

    • Within this movie, you'll find your "blind spots" – those unconscious behaviors and beliefs that influence your actions without your awareness.

    • These blind spots can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and missed opportunities. By watching your movie, you bring them into the light.

    • The 'Why': Why is it important to see your blind spots?

      • To improve your relationships.

      • To increase your self-understanding.

      • To make better, more intentional choices.

      • To live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

      • To break free from repeating negative patterns.

  • The Practice-Loving Observation

    • The most important aspect of watching your "movie" is to do so with curiosity, compassion, forgiveness, and through a loving lens.

    • Curiosity: Approach your inner world with a sense of wonder. Be curious about your thoughts, feelings, and reactions, as if you're exploring a fascinating new landscape.

    • Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Remember that everyone has their own unique 'movie,' and everyone is doing their best.

    • Forgiveness: Forgive yourself for any perceived mistakes or shortcomings. We all have moments we'd like to rewind, but the present moment is where we can choose a new scene.

    • Loving Lens: View your inner world through a lens of love.

    • Instead of just watching, you're observing with a loving heart, creating a space for growth and transformation. Think of yourself as a loving parent watching their child learn and grow, offering support and understanding along the way. This awareness, combined with love, brings profound change.

    • Pay Attention to Your Thoughts:

      • Throughout the day, take a moment to notice what you're thinking.

      • Are your thoughts positive, negative, or neutral? Do they repeat?

      • Simply observe them, like clouds passing in the sky.

    • Feel Your Feelings:

      • Become aware of the emotions that arise.

      • Where do you feel them in your body? Is your chest tight? Are your hands clammy?

      • Acknowledge them with curiosity.

    • Observe Your Actions:

      • Notice how you react to different situations and people.

      • Do you tend to withdraw, confront, or avoid?

      • Are your actions intentional, or habitual?

    • Listen to Your Words:

      • Pay attention to what you say, both to others and to yourself.

      • Are you aware of your tone, what is your natural tone? What words do you choose?

      • Are you kind to yourself?

XOXO, Paleena
